Identity verification will be required to Companies House from 18th November 2025

From 18 November 2025, all company directors and people with significant control (PSCs) will be legally required to verify their identity under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. This requirement is part of wider reforms to help prevent the misuse of UK companies.

If you're a director or person with significant control

18 November 2025 marks the start of a transition date where all company officers must verify their identity before filing their company's confirmation statement. You'll need to provide the personal code (Keep that code safe please) and a verification statement for each director/officer on the confirmation statement. If you do not do this, your company will not be able to submit any company filing.

If you're a director of multiple companies, you'll need to do this for each company separately, using the same personal code each time.
